"Gucci Girl Fly" by Aisha (Hip Hop/Rap Artist from New Orleans, Louisiana (LA))

"Gucci Girl Fly" is the debut album from the New Orleans-born rap artist Aisha. This album is a complete package as far as image and content go. Aisha doesn't hold back in any way, and her powerful esteem seeps through her work without question. The lyrics are truthful and uninhibited, and the uncompromising southern rap sound compliments her style very well. The arrangements are skillfully crafted and have a powerful effect. The album is well put together, well-performed, and well-produced. One of the album highlights is the opener, "Pussy On Ya Grill." It kicks things off with a bang with its risqué lyrics and catchy beat. It definitely peaks listeners' interest as to what is ahead. The title track "Gucci Girl Fly" features some tricky sequences and a definite hook, and Aisha throws some of her best vocal and lyrical work into the track. "I Want Your Money" has a rough, distorted beat and is forthcoming to say the least. Listeners that like female rap artists with a dirty sound and even dirtier content will want to check out Aisha's "Gucci Girl Fly."

"Get Money" by Da One (Hip-Hop Artist from Orlando, Florida(FL))

"Get Money" by Da One is a collection of upbeat and driving Hip- Hop/Rap songs. The vocals are powerful with crisp clarity and funky grooves. As you listen to this album you will feel the lyrics flaunting rhythmic poetry in true Hip-Hop fashion. The entire album is masterfully mixed and feature driving drum beats and quality synth sounds. The tracks create a party atmosphere and you can't help but move to the intensity of the grooving beats. "Hustle" showcases nice low brass synth, synth strings, and hand claps. On the chorus of "If you need It" (featuring J-Key), the guest artist complements the lead rap vocals with high background harmonies over a laid back drum beat. Chill out and feel the party beats of the electronic drums and lyrical rhymes when you listen to "Get Money."

"Club Hop" by Smooth4Lyfe (Rap/Hip Hop Artist from Maryland (MD))

Smooth4Lyfe has created a new album, "Club Hop," filled with original artistic arrangements of Hip Hop and club mixes. Each song on this album is filled with bounce and enthusiasm. The first track, "Hip Hop Intro," kicks off the album with stylish rapping lyrics that are clean, and also supports a positive and fashionable content. Production is high quality as the entire album features driving drum beats cascading with the pulsating bass lines. There is a smooth transition into the second half of the album with the bump and grind mix of "Club Intro." Strong and powerful higher-pitched background vocals really add an edge to the funky track "This Feeling," as the rhythm bounces to the house beat and the synth strings swell with a looped effect. "Rise of the Bees" keeps the rhythm pumping with the incorporation of electronic effects that brings a nice flavor to this style of club music. Smooth4Lyfe's latest album "Club Hop" is an energetic one, filled with Hip Hop and party music that will have listeners dancing the night away.

This duo delves into many styles and textures with their highly experimental blend of soul, rock and hip hop. "Baby Girl" by Low (Hip-Hop Artist from Georgia(GA))

"Baby Girl" is the debut single from southern rap artist Low. Immediately you will be drawn to the classic crunk sound - the big beat, claps and seedy melodic organ. It all comes together with Low's gritty flow and great vocal performances by guest artists Mill and V.I.C. The track encompasses everything you would expect in a song from the "Dirty South". Aside from the big hook, nice arrangement and great performances, you will experience some top-notch production. The track sounds great and the mix highlights some of the great nuances throughout. “Prairie Kid" by Abstract Artform (Hip-Hop Artist from Manitoba, Canada)

When you think of Canada, hip-hop may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but that may just change once you hear Abstract Artform's "Prairie Kid." These guys are trying to keep alive an art form many believe has already peaked and is on its way out of the mainstream. Abstract Artform is the real deal, true emcees that cannot be denied, reminiscent of Jurassic 5, The Roots, and even old school hip-hop like Fab 5 Freddy. The songs are great, with extreme danceability, and the entire album has the potential of beginning a Great Awakening of the hip-hop world. "Prairie Kid" is well-produced, the lyrics and beats crisp and ready for loud and extended play. "Hands Up" is a standout track on this album, with a head-nodding beat and a catchy hook for a chorus. "Here We Are" is another great track that criticizes the disarray of the music industry and how music as an art form is a dying breed. The chorus, "Here we are/We're gonna do something to change the way it is," is a great statement which really captures the present day culture of hip-hop and music in general. Fans of old school hip-hop should definitely pick this one up; keep the art form alive and support up-and-comers like Abstract Artform.

"Viva Mayday" by Viva Mayday (Rap/Hip-Hop artist from New York City, New York (NY))

"Viva Mayday" is the politically charged self-titled debut from reggae rock outfit Viva Mayday. A typical rock three piece – guitar, bass and drums – Viva Mayday rely heavily upon the upstroke to create their classic reggae sound. They also incorporate punk and classic rock elements into their music, showing their musical talent and diversity. The lead singer's vocals are uniformly in the style of traditional reggae and fused with a variety of musical styles, Viva Mayday show likeliness to Bob Marley, Dispatch, The Clash and Sublime at different points on the album. All the while, their lyrics are reminiscent of Rage Against the Machine. Viva Mayday's songs are jam-packed with socially aware, politically charged lyrics that exploit the bands disgruntledness, for the most part, with American foreign policy. "Viva Mayday" is also well-produced, sure to keep both the music and lyrics polished and audible. "Fidel" opens with an incredible Hendrix-style guitar solo as they sing about "the war machine" and "propane democracy." "Missionaries" reflects the "give peace a chance" mentality of the entire album with a Marley-esque vocal, suggesting that even the people that mean perfectly well are struggling to survive abroad. "1963 Motorcade" is a song about the assassination of JFK and conspiracy theories against the government. "Viva Mayday" is certainly opinionated and controversial. If you enjoy what Rage Against the Machine offers lyrically and punk-infused reggae rock, you should give this album a listen.

Chaos brings extreme intensity and a powerful delivery to the table. His lyrics are controversial and well-constructed, and his creative choices present a new innovation with each new song. The arrangements support the constant battle with sanity that the album presents with odd beats, zany synths and a nice thick coat of darkness that perfectly compliment the album's concept. "Villaintine's Day" is professionally produced and sounds fantastic. Highlights include "Verbal Vybin," with strong lyrics, a nice hook, and an interesting beat. "Mental Madness" features an incredible beat, cool claps, and a hauntingly zany vibe. "For The Love featuring Ajent Smif" has a cool cat jazz vibe, a slick bass line, and a strong guest vocal. Chaos Da Verbal Villain certainly lives up to his name with "Villaintine's Day," as he comes off as a well-versed, veteran and innovative emcee. C-Born speaks a strong word and commands your attention through his poetic lyrics and precise delivery simultaneously reminiscent of Wyclef Jean and Common. The sound is comprised of the relationship between rough sounds and delicate sounds, which befits an album preaching change through action. As a whole, the sound maintains a certain rawness, and the arrangements are full, interesting, and well-balanced. "Son of Malcolm" is well-produced and the recordings are all radio ready. "Love Hustle Hate" is a Southern hip-hop album from The Pearl, a talented female emcee who brings a timeless passion to the table. The lyrics on this album are poetic, and the vocal performances possess an undeniable angst and energy similar to Da Brat and Lauryn Hill. The subject matters vary, but true-to-life content about The Pearl's life struggle interweaves itself throughout the album. The Pearl's sound is truly unique, with the addition of raw punk elements to foundation of street beats and techno, a pretty powerful combination to say the least. "Love Hustle Hate" has superior production, and the sound is really intensified with a great mix. Highlights include "Get Ready (featuring Musclehead)," which has a dark, punkish bass line, powerful vocal performances, and tricky beats that give the listener their first taste of The Pearl's rawness. BiGGs' has the vocal ability to intimidate as well as to bring the ladies to their knees. He has a great singing voice as well as a great flow reminiscent of the Notorious B.I.G. and Lil Wayne. The backing music sequence supports this intimidation/coercion dichotomy, as you get a thick, bumping beat with subtle and varied accents and quirky yet atmospheric synths. The second track, the instrumental version of "Look Good," gives you a whole different perspective on the track and allows you to focus on the dramatic hints. The a capella version stands on its own as well; you definitely feel the rhythm without hearing it, and it paints a complete picture of BiGGs' talents as an emcee. This single is recorded excellently, so the track sounds great as a whole and broken down. "Pound-4-Pound" certainly leaves you wanting to hear more of what BiGGs has to offer the music world in both arrangement and vocals. If you enjoy the Miami style of hip-hop, you'll enjoy this CD.
