"Well Respected" by Alumni (Rap Artist from Georgia(GA))

Rapper Alumni delivers a solid batch of hip-hop with his debut record, "Well Respected." Alumni's background is much different from that of your normal hip-hop star. Alumni has a Bachelor's in biology and a Master's in education, making him one of the most book smart rappers anyone has ever heard of. Education aside, Alumni has clearly perfected his craft as he easily fits in with the likes of Jay-Z. Need proof? Take a listen to "I'm There" or "The Answer," two standout tracks that deserve to be heard. Also, Alumni take's his listeners for a hardcore reality trip on "Strugglin'." "Burden of Proof" by Jenuine J.A. (Rap Artist from San Francisco, California(CA))

Jenuine J.A.'s latest rap record "The Burden of Proof" is a great throwback to the early sounds of that genre. Jenuine isn't exactly a hip-hop artist as his songs rely more on his lyrics and the instrumentation than just beats. The opening track, "Dyin' to Floss" says it all, as you can hear how Jenuine wants his words to be heard and not lost under a sea of electronic drums. His struggle to be heard is evident throughout the disc as he lets listeners in on his personal hurdles in becoming a successful rap star. Just listen to "What's Your Plan?" and you will feel what he has gone through. The title of "The (Lost) Art of Storytellin'" is a truthful statement about where most rap songs are at today. They rely more on abusive lyrics, instead of just telling a story. If you want to hear rap music the way it should be done, you won't be disappointed when you hear "The Burden of Proof."

RadioIndy is pleased to present Smooth4Lyfe with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Club Hop"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Smooth4Lyfe with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Club Hop"

Smooth4Lyfe has created a new album, "Club Hop," filled with original artistic arrangements of Hip Hop and club mixes. Each song on this album is filled with bounce and enthusiasm. The first track, "Hip Hop Intro," kicks off the album with stylish rapping lyrics that are clean, and also supports a positive and fashionable content. Production is high quality as the entire album features driving drum beats cascading with the pulsating bass lines. There is a smooth transition into the second half of the album with the bump and grind mix of "Club Intro." Strong and powerful higher-pitched background vocals really add an edge to the funky track "This Feeling," as the rhythm bounces to the house beat and the synth strings swell with a looped effect. "Rise of the Bees" keeps the rhythm pumping with the incorporation of electronic effects that brings a nice flavor to this style of club music. Smooth4Lyfe's latest album "Club Hop" is an energetic one, filled with Hip Hop and party music that will have listeners dancing the night away.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Various Artists with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Bluff Rock Entertainment Presents: “The Black House”"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Various Artists with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Bluff Rock Entertainment Presents: "The Black House""

Bluff Rock Entertainment Presents: "The Black House" is a CD by various artists hosted by the progressive hip-hop label. The male and female musicians who have compiled this album voice their inspirations of hip-hop with clever lyrical rhymes, tantalizing beats, and tight rhythms. Patriotic Poetry, as heard on "The Value of an American Dollar" speaks of emotional times in America and is also a spoken solo vocal track with no instrumentation. The rhythmic vocals with backing beats are fresh and original and display inventive lyrics. Progressive synths and drum machines really build up the genre, creating an upbeat tempo with a variety of instruments. In a creative production venture. the incorporation of the using the music from the band Cutting Crew and their song (I Just) "Died In your Arms Tonight" as an intro to "So Additive" is innovative as the beat of this song keeps going as a lyrical Rap is heard above the looped strings which are predominant to this song. You will want to take a listen to the CD "The Black House" especially if you like the musical styles of Jay Z or Lil' Wayne.

"Aggression" by Rocboi (Rap Artist from Chicago, Illinois(IL))

Born and raised on the infamous south side of Chicago, rapper Rocboi dishes out his latest collection of material on "Aggression." Rocboi does an amazing job of fusing hip/hop with hints of R&B, all while staying true to his underground rap roots. With a rapping style similar to NAS, Rocboi flaunts his poetic word play on songs such as "Believe It" and "I Do It." Both tracks are full of brilliantly penned lyrics and fused with some soulful R&B instrumentation. He also delves into the world of sex with the very adult number, "Nasty." Although this song does have some mature lyrics to it, the song is rap at its best. Any fan of Jay Z or good grooving hip/hop will thoroughly enjoy this album.
